QuantERA - a new ERA-NET in the field of Quantum Technologies pre-announces a call for proposals In January 2017 QuantERA will announce a call for proposals in the field of quantum technologies. QuantERA is a new European Research Area Network in the field of Quantum Technologies established as an answer to the growing need for collaborative endeavours and a common funding scheme in this field of research. © QuantERA QuantERA is a network of 31 agencies from 26 countries, coordinated by the National Science Centre, Poland. With a budget of over EUR 34 M, including co-funding from the European Commission, QuantERA will support international research projects in the field of Quantum Technologies. Thematic scope of upcoming QuantERA Call 2017 includes research on one or more of the following areas: 1. Quantum communication 2. Quantum simulation 3. Quantum computation 4. Quantum information sciences 5. Quantum metrology sensing and imaging 6. Novel ideas and applications in quantum science and technologies A two-stage application procedure (pre-proposals and full proposals) will be open for consortia composed of researchers from at least three countries from the Call. Proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria: 1. Excellence, 2. Impact, 3. Quality and efficiency of the implementation. The national/regional eligibility criteria are defined by each participating funding agency. The anticipated deadline for pre-proposals is 15th of March 2017. QuantERA aims at spreading research excellence in the whole European Research Area. Therefore, proposal consortia are encouraged to include partners from the widening countries participating in the call: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Turkey.
