DG XI promotes protection from environmental emergencies
A new Web service highlights European activities in the fields of civil protection and accidental marine pollution. Activities in both of these fields address means of limiting the impact of major environmental disasters on Europe's population. Examples of activities supported by the European Commission, DG XI, include sharing of experience and joint training, as well as means of facilitating cooperation in emergencies. The EU's RTD Framework Programmes have also supported a range of projects to contribute to the aims of these activities.
