The European Commission has recently published an amended proposal for a Directive on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the Information Society, following the European Parliament's first reading of the proposal. The Directive concerns the legal protection of copyright and related rights in the framework of the internal market, with particular emphasis on the Information Society. It relates to reproductive rights, public dissemination rights and distribution rights. It also demands that Member States provide adequate legal protection to prevent breaches of copyright, and places particular emphasis on protection of technological measures and intellectual property rights.
