The European Commission, DG XI, has recently published an invitation to tender for a study to assess the performance of existing options for managing the biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste. Although all management options (anaerobic digestion, composting, land-filling, incineration etc.) will be considered in the study, the main emphasis will be on the separate collection of the biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste. The study will focus on the Member States of the European Union and the accession countries.
