Call for proposals for EU health promotion programme
Around five million euro has been earmarked in 2000 for projects relating to health promotion, information, education and training, under a call for proposals published by the European Commission (DG V). The objective of the public health programme is to help ensure a high level of health protection within the EU. The Commission therefore welcomes actions aimed at: 1. Encouraging Member States to adopt health promotion policies by lending support to various cooperation measures; 2. Encouraging the adoption of healthy lifestyles and behaviour; 3. Promoting awareness of risk factors and health enhancing aspects; 4. Encouraging inter-sectoral and multidisciplinary approaches to community-specific health promotion, especially for disadvantaged groups. The programme covers five areas: health promotion strategies and structures; specific prevention and health promotion measures; health information; health education and vocational training in public health and health promotion. Proposals for projects should address on or more of the priorities set out in the work programme, contained in the information pack available from the Commission. Furthermore, they must demonstrate Community added value, i.e. involve participants from several Member States, be carried out in several Member States, or be applicable in other Member States (pilot projects).
