The European Commission has now opened a dedicated call for proposals for generic activities related to measurements and testing and methodologies to support standardisation and Community policies. Proposals to support measurement and quality management infrastructures in particular are also invited. The call for proposals falls under the Competitive and Sustainable Growth programme, part of the Fifth Framework Programme. This call for proposals concerns research in the following areas: - Methodologies to support standardisation and Community policies (a budget of 4 million euro is available for this part of the call): - - Research work related to the 'pressure equipment Directive'; - - Research work related to the 'personal protective equipment Directive'; - - Research work related to the 'machinery Directive'; - Research work related to the 'construction products Directive' and harmonisation of different 'European codes of practice'; - Thematic networks in support of measurements and quality management infrastructures (a budget of 2 million euro is available for this part of the call). A supporting document detailing the objectives to be met for each part of the call is available upon request, and the Commission recommends that this should be consulted before developing a proposal. Applications for a bursary for young researchers from developing countries can also be submitted alongside proposals. All the information relating to this call, including the guide to proposers, is available on CORDIS, at: http://cordis.europa.eu/growth/calls/199903.htm(opens in new window) All information may also be obtained from: European Commission DG XII - C.O - GROWTH 1999 200 rue de la Loi B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2966757/2958072 E-mail: research@ec.europa.eu
