A Commission Decision (93/95/Euratom of 2.2.1993) amending Decision 85/593/Euratom on the reorganization of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) replaces the text of Article 4 of the earlier Decision (published in Official Journal No L 373 of 31.12.1985) by the new Article 4 set out in full in the present Decision. This Article specifies the creation, selection, areas of competence, and activities of the Board of Governors of the JRC. The Board is composed of thirteen members, namely a high-level representative from each Member State, appointed by the Commission on the basis of nominations by the authorities of the State in question plus a Chairman elected by the 12 representatives. All members shall be appointed for a period of three years, which shall be renewable. Articles 5 and 6 of the original Commission Decision are deleted. Article 7, now becoming Article 5, is amended to specify the selection of the JRC's Scientific Committee.
