Commission wants to put PC-Cream into use
PC-Cream is a PC package to assess the consequences of radioactive discharges produced during normal operations at nuclear installations. It was developed by the UK's National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) under contract to the European Commission's Directorate General XI. Now DG XI has announced a call for tenders to use PC-Cream to assess the radiological impact on the EU's population of discharges from EU sites between 1987 and 1996. This includes: - The development of a computer program to transfer data of routine releases of radioactivity by EU nuclear installations from the existing EU database to PC-Cream; - Compilation of site specific data for dose assessments and its inclusion in PC-Cream 98; - Identification of any weaknesses and/or uncertainties in the application of PC-Cream 98 to performing the tasks of the work programme; - Evaluation of the collective doses and critical group doses as a result of routine releases of radioactivity by EU nuclear power stations and nuclear fuel reprocessing plants from 1987 up to 1996 together with a commentary on the evolution of such doses since 1986, and comparison with exposure to natural radioactivity and other sources.
