Eurostat, the European Commission's Statistical Office, has published an invitation to tender concerning a range of services to support demand for statistical information channelled through the network of data shops. The network of 11 data shops in the EU has the task of meeting all requests for statistical information on the EU from businesses, local and national authorities, universities, students and the general public. The implementation of the single currency and the development of other EU policies has led to an increase in demands for statistical information from companies as well as from the media. Particular events tend also to generate repeated specific demands. In view of the increased volume of demand, and the fact that demands from outside need to be processed differently from those from within the EU institutions, Eurostat is launching an invitation to tender for the following services: - Lot 1: increase the processing capacity of the data shop network and to deal with requests from the media; - Lot 2: provide the information necessary for he data shop network; - Lot 3: monitoring the network's quality charter. The contract would initially run for one year, with the possibility of being twice extended.
