Following the recent adoption of a new phase of the Leonardo da Vinci vocational training programme from 2000-06, and in view of the expected adoption of new phases of the Socrates (education) and Youth programmes, the European Commission plans to publish an invitation to tender for technical assistance offices to assist in the running of these programmes, as well as smaller programmes in the same field. Given recent difficulties in the management of certain EU programmes, notably Leonardo, the Commission has decided to reform the structure of the technical assistance offices covering these programmes. It is intended that two technical assistance offices - one for management and the other for monitoring the programmes - will be established. The actual call is expected to be published during October or November this year.
