Landscape typology and indicators for nature protection
The Joint Research Centre's Space Applications Institute is inviting tenders for a pilot study addressing 'the landscape characterisation and assessment issue' with special emphasis on biodiversity conservation. This will firstly involve developing and testing a tailored and harmonised landscape typology system combining earth observation data such as recent SPOT Pan and SPOT XI or XS data and GIS techniques, then relevant spatially referenced indicators will be defined and computed at both landscape and species level. The invitation to tender also asks for the procurement of any available digital data such as environmental data, historical data and socio economic data acting as factors and constraints for biodiversity conservation.
