Environmental policy in applicant countries
The European Commission intends to launch a study contract to assess environmental policy in the applicant states being considered for EU membership and the requirements of EU environmental policy. The study will comprise issues linked to legal transposition of the environmental acquis, the state of the environment and environmental policy in the applicant countries, institutional structures within the field of environment, implementation and enforcement of environmental rules. It is expected that tender procedures will be launched by the end of September.
