A roadmap for Creative industries future

The ‘Creativity REsearch Adaptive roadMap’ (CRe-AM) project has been launched in Nantes, France on October 30-31, 2013.

The CRe-AM partnership, a unique combination of leading universities, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and institutions, is pleased to announce the launch of the project for a duration of two years. CRe-AM will provide experience in technology roadmapping and a proven capacity for networking in the creative sector. The ICT revolution has opened new landscapes of opportunities for the creative industries. However, with the growth of ICT tools and technologies, a paradoxical lack of awareness regarding ICT developments leads to the under-exploitation of creative potential. CRe-AM aims to bridge communities of creators with communities of technology providers and innovators, to develop new ICT technologies and tools that would best fit creative industries’ desired future. By addressing the needs of identified sectors in the creative industries, CRe-AM will: • Create a roadmap for an effective collaboration amongst creative sectors and ICT stakeholders. • Raise awareness amongst the creative industries of related R&D results. • Build a foresight capability in the form of an ‘Observatory’ for creativity-ICT innovation. • Set up a shareable infrastructure (platform) of strategic intelligence and roadmapping to engage individual creators as well as stakeholder communities, and empower them to identify the emerging visions and concerns, to build and maintain their own dynamic roadmaps for the future. The project builds around three pillars: (1) creative actors, (2) technologies & tools, (3) on the ground application and engagement. The vision is to promote the development of technologies and tools to boost creativity, in line with emerging or evolving needs of the creative industries. Hence, key to the success of this endeavour is the mobilization and active involvement of stakeholders’ communities in the roadmapping process. CRe-AM is already supported by more than 150 stakeholders from all creative sectors (Art, Design, Music, e-Publishing, Media, Video games and Architecture), deeply engaged in the development of their desired futures and derived roadmaps. By the end of the project’s lifetime, CRe-AM aims to engage with an even higher number of stakeholders. CRe-AM is a “Co-ordination and support action” (CSA) funded by the European Commission under its FP7 research funding programme, to strengthen the development of a dynamic European policy for creativity. CSAs bring together a complementary blend of partners, representing scientific and technological expertise in the domain of ICT, and offering a large networking capacity with all stakeholder groups of creative industries. Participants in the project include: Brunel University (UK), Menon (Belgium), Black Cube Collective (UK), NCSR (Greece), London Metropolitan University (UK), IMT (France), Fluxguide (Austria), Sigma Orionis (France), Lattanzio (Italy), Liverpool Hope University (UK), The University of Liverpool (UK), imaginary (Italy), and ELIG (Austria).
