As a contribution to sustainable forest management in Europe, the European Commission's Joint Research Centre will shortly announce a call for tenders for the development of methods and tools for monitoring forest diversity.

The work will involve the development of methods and the tools for identifying criteria and indicators for assessing and monitoring the diversity of forest and other wooded land in Europe. The tools will be appropriate for use at different scales, from the level of the forest to larger landscape units. Ultimately, it should help to identify key indicators of forest diversity, which can be monitored in an operational way throughout the pan-European area.
