Fabio Colosanti has been appointed as the new Director General for the European Commission's Enterprise Directorate-General under Commissioner Erkki Liikanen.

His appointment will become effective as of 1 January 2000.

Mr Colosanti's two deputy Directors General will be Magnus Lemmel and Jörn Keck.
