The European Commission requires four studies aimed at assisting in the evaluation of research needs and development strategies in the field of competitive and sustainable growth in order to support the Growth programme. A call for tender in four lots has been launched by the Research Directorate-General, with particular reference to the Key Action 'Innovative products, processes and organisation' and the generic activity 'Measurements and testing'. Lot one refers to a study on RTD needs for technological and organisational innovation in manufacturing industries and related services, noting regional differences and potentials for synergies in Europe. The second lot involves a study on the use of certified reference materials in Europe. Lot three requires a study on the assessment of the economic role of measurements within modern society. The fourth and final lot refers to a study on interaction between standardisation and intellectual property rights.
