VIPS: Press Pack: Evaluating tests for BSE
The Joint Research Centre's Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements has recently evaluated tests for diagnosing Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in post-mortem samples. As a result of the study, which was carried out on behalf of the European Commission, three rapid tests were shown to be capable of identifying cows infected with BSE, after slaughter.
