BCR programme on applied metrology and chemical analysis: Projects and results 1988-1992
The Community Bureau of Reference (BCR) has recently published "Projects and Results 1988-1992. Applied Metrology and Chemical Analysis". The book summarizes the results of research projects carried out under the European Community's BCR programme between 1988 and 1992. The publication covers 145 projects related to chemical analyses, mainly concerned with environment, food, agriculture and medical care, 106 projects in the field of metrology and a further 20 projects related to the testing of various industrial products. In general, the purpose of these projects was to improve existing methods of measurement and testing, to improve ways in which this is implemented, or to develop new methods where an economic need had been established. A number of projects have led to the development of certified reference materials which can be used by laboratories to verify their own project results. Finally, projects in the field of metrology have lead to an improved harmonization of the calibrations provided to industry by official laboratories throughout the Community.
