A decent proposal?
Six European SMEs want European Commission help in funding an edible packaging product in a 1.3 million euro project. The material, 'fantasylene' was developed by the University of Wessex in the UK and can be used in packaging for fish, chocolate and fruit. How do the SMEs convince the Commission of its value? This is the (fictitious) subject of an example proposal published by Beta Technology used to highlight how to approach the Commission for exploratory award and cooperative research proposals for the SME specific measures scheme. These are continuously open for submission of proposals until 18 April 2001 and 17 April 2002 respectively. The same company produced example proposals under the Fourth Framework programme and has now adapted these for the current programme.
