Eurostat publishes the figures for EU R&D from 1998 to 1999
A report illustrating the evolving structure of R&D in the EU over the past decade is now available. The statistics presented in 'Recherche et développement: statistiques annuelles Données 1998 - 1999' allow comparisons between the state of the R&D sectors in the Member States. The figures have been collated by the European Commission's Statistical Office, Eurostat. Information in the report is given country by country, and divided into two main sections. The first, dedicated to research and development in Europe, gives information on the availability of public funds for R&D in Europe, a breakdown of expenses and personnel employed in the R&D sector in Europe, and statistics on demands for European patents. The second section of the report is laid out in table-form giving a detailed summary of the information elucidated in the first part of the report.
