'Please update your EoI records' says the CORDIS Partners service
CORDIS, the official European Commission research and development information service, is in the process of contacting all users of its 'Partners service' who may need to update their profiles on the World Wide Web. The CORDIS Partners service is set up to help researchers and companies looking for research partners to form consortiums with which they can submit proposals to the EU's Fifth RTD Framework Programme (FP5). Potential partners can register their expressions of interest (EoI) at CORDIS and search through other organisations' profiles to find appropriate collaborators. To help refine such searches, users of the Partners service normally refer to particular areas of the FP5 Work Programmes pinpointing exactly which areas they want to submit proposals to. The European Commission has, however, recently updated the FP5 thematic programmes' Work Programmes (IST, Growth, Quality of Life and Energy, Environment and Sustainable development). 'Users of the Partners Service who registered their expression of interest before March 2000, need to check if their current profile on the Partners service matches up to the revised Work Programmes for 2000. This is particularly important as, for example, the 1999 Action Lines for the IST programme are no longer valid and will be of no help to people searching for your current interest,' says a member of the CORDIS team.
