The European Commission intends to recruit contractors to design and implement an education campaign on food safety in the Member States in 2000. The campaign will possibly be extended in 2001 subject to the Commission's policy directions, its budget and its evaluation of the campaign in 2000. A company will also be recruited for the European coordination of this campaign. Its contract will possibly be extended to 2001 subject to the evaluation of the work carried out in 2000. The contract is divided into16 lots: 1 tender may be submitted for producing the campaign in each of the Member States (15 lots) and 1 tender may be submitted for European coordination (1 lot). The same company cannot tender for both the production and the coordination. Tenders for the production of the campaign may relate to 1, more than 1 or all 15 Member States lots, but they must cover each lot separately. If a tender relates to several lots, the Commission reserves the right only to accept one part of it. As far as possible, the contract will be awarded in June 2000 and work will commence from contract signature with the aim of launching the campaign in September or October 2000. The contractors should be informed no later than March 2001 of the Commission's decision possibly to renew their contract for 2001.
