JRC requires measurement system
The Joint Research Centre in Italy requires a fully automated non-destructive assay system to measure the radioactive content of drummed wastes. A tender procedure has been opened for a measurement system suitable for characterising drums of up to 400 litres of heterogeneous waste containing alpha minus, beta minus and gamma minus radionuclides. The system should also comprise the following sub-systems: - a gamma minus measurement station; - a neutron measurement station; - equipment for measuring other drum parameters such as weight and surface dose; - a conveyor belt delivery system for transferring drums to and from the measurement stations, and capable of handling at least 20 drums for unattended operation of the measurement system; - a PLC sub-system for automatic operation of the whole system; - a PC sub-system for the analysis and reporting of the measurement data. The contract includes the design, supply, assembly, setting-to-work and commissioning of the system at the JRC Ispra site in Italy, the training of JRC personnel and an extended period of measurement system maintenance (one year guarantee plus four years maintenance).
