Studies relating to space
Following the objectives laid down in the communication from the Commission to the Council and the European Parliament entitled "The European Community and Space: Challenges, Opportunities and New Actions" (COM(92)360 of 23.9.1992) the European Commission's DG XII, Unit D-4 intends to launch, in the near future, a number of assessment studies relating to the development of applications in space technology. The studies will concern: - Earth observation (technical, economic and policy requirements for the optimal development and exploitation of applications); - Research and technology (synergy between Community RTD programmes and the space programmes of the European Space Agency and the Member States); - International aspects (the situation in other space-faring nations and space applications in countries with economies in transition and in developing countries); - Industrial aspects (community RTD programmes, industrial and commercial policies for the interest of the European space industry).
