The relationship between environmental liability and the prevention of environmental damages is to be the subject of a study required by the Environment Directorate-General. An invitation to tender has been issued for a study contract to examine the effectiveness of strict environmental liability in terms of increased levels of prevention and the significance of its spin-off effect. The study should identify an environmental liability regime suitable for modelling, and analyse data related to that regime using econometric approaches, and need not be limited to European environmental liability regimes.
