The European Commission is ready to support viable initiatives on innovative and multilingual radio and television channels, and for pilot projects in the areas of electronic distribution of content and electronic production networks. Proposals are being sought with a genuine European dimension, especially with a multilingual and multicultural focus. Projects should be implemented within a period of 12 months, starting in 2000 or early 2001. The four areas covered by this call for proposals, which has an overall budget of 1,865 million euro, include: - new initiatives in the introduction of digital and multilingual radio; - new initiatives in multilingual television; - pilot projects in the area of electronic distribution of content; - networking of European audiovisual producers by means of digital technology. The Commission's costs may not exceed 50 per cent of the cost of projects selected. Potential proposers are reminded to consult the official call text for further information, on the Official Journal of the European Communities at the reference given below. Application forms can be obtained from the Commission (see address below) or at the following Internet address: URL: http://europa.eu.int/comm/dg10/avpolicy/index_en.html European Commission Mr C Daskalakis Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 (B-100, 04/27) B-1049 Brussels
