Innovation-oriented environmental regulations - publication available
The conclusions of a conference organised in May 1999 by the European Commission's Institute for prospective technological studies (IPTS) have now been published. 'Innovation-oriented environmental regulation - theoretical approaches and empirical analysis' includes contributions from a number of researchers from across Europe. The IPTS looked at the attractiveness of innovation-oriented environmental regulations for policy planners and decision makers, for cutting the costs of environmental measures and overcoming existing trade-offs between economic and ecological goals. The meeting addressed what such a regulatory regime of environmental policy approaches should look like. The book provides an overview of the state of research by presenting and discussing theoretical approaches towards a framework of environmental regulation and innovation, international case studies and econometric modelling studies from Europe and the USA.
