The European Commission wishes to remind potential applicants that its original invitation to tender for experts to evaluate the Fifth RTD Framework Programme is open until 30 September 2002. Applicants were first sought through a call notice issued in the Official Journal of the European Communities in December 1998. Experts are sought by the Commission for inclusion in a panel of experts, which will help to evaluate proposals in line with the scientific, technological and socio-economic aims laid down in the proposals for the Fifth Framework Programme. The Commission wishes to alert experts on these lists that they could also be called upon to perform related tasks connected to their areas of expertise. These tasks will involve the technical and scientific reviewing of current and recently completed RTD actions, and the assessment of the exploitation, financial, managerial and business aspects. Other tasks might include the provision of advice during the negotiation of contracts. The Commission will continue to seek an appropriate rotation of experts, taking account of applicants' geographical origin, expertise and professional background, while seeking to maintain a balanced participation of men and women. The same conditions apply as in the original call on OJ No C 385 A of 11.12.1998 and C 25 A of 30.1.1999. Full information continues to be available at URL: cordis.europa.eu/expert-candidature.
