The Trade Directorate-General has issued an invitation to tender for a contract to perform an in-depth analysis of trade and investment barriers of certain third country markets in the telecommunication services sector. The objective of the study is to put forward a practical, cost-effective strategy for removing regulatory restrictions to market access in the telecommunications services sector in the Kazakhstan, Thailand, Malaysia, Tunisia, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya, Peru, Argentina, and Mexico. The range of telecommunications services which should be considered in the context of this study are: - voice fixed and mobile; - value-added services; - data-transmission, including Internet type of data; - radio-based services, either fixed or mobile; - direct-to-home broadcasting (DTH) and DBS; - resale of international leased capacity; - services provided or access requested by network independent service providers and by facility-based operators.
