Europol requires a new head for its research unit. The successful applicant will work under the authority of the deputy director, head of the technology services department to implement and develop a specific unit dealing with coordination of research, information analysis and administration, in order to provide Europol and the Member States with expertise in the areas of information communication technology (ICT) security, advanced information processing, human language technologies, artificial intelligence and misuse of technology. The post holder's main responsibilities will be to: - identify the subjects in which Europol can bring added value to the Member States in line with the areas outlined above; identify the Europol means; and prioritise the work of the unit following the guidelines of the head of technology services department; - develop comprehensive long, mid and short term strategies focusing on research activities; - organise meetings, conferences and workshops at Europol, as well as at international level; - represent Europol at specialised conferences, as well as at specialised forums; - develop liaisons and relationships with Member States, Europol national units and other organisations in respect of the research activity of Europol; - head and take a key role in research projects groups.
