Secondary standards for the calibration of solid fat content by nuclear magnetic resonance
The Joint Research Centre's Institute for reference materials and measurements (IRMM) plans to enter into an agreement for the production of plastic-in-oil nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) calibration sets to be calibrated against master sets kept at the IRMM and distributed as BCR reference materials. These sets will therefore be used as secondary standards to provide calibration (F-factors) for solid fat content measurements using NMR . In order to qualify, service providers interested in this contract will be requested to demonstrate their capability in the field, as well as their ability to produce and calibrate such reference materials in a reproductive way. Subject to a satisfactory performance by the service provider concerned, the contract is likely to run for a period of at least five years. The estimated total value of the contract is approximately 75,000 euro per annum.
