The Environment Directorate-General is calling for tenders for a study on the traceability of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The three main elements to be provided are: - A survey and analysis of existing systems of labelling of products with a view to traceability, so as to assess the optimum methodology for the administrative aspect of the traceability of GMOs. - Documentation of the 'state-of-the art' concerning the detection of GMOs and recommendations concerning the technical aspects if the traceability of GMOs. - Determination of the feasibility of such a traceability system, including any technical, practical and economic constraints.
