MEPs approve the EU-Russia scientific cooperation agreement
Members of the European Parliament have formally approved an agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Union and the Russian Federation. The agreement aims to stimulate cooperation at the level of research projects covered by the Commission's framework programme in the following areas: environment; bio-medicine and health, agriculture, forestry and fisheries industrial techniques, non-nuclear energy, transport, information society, and social sciences. The terms of the agreement will be reviewed at the end of 2002, when it may be renewable for a further five years.
