The agreement aims to stimulate cooperation at the level of research projects covered by the Commission's framework programme in the following areas: environment; bio-medicine and health, agriculture, forestry and fisheries industrial techniques, non-nuclear energy, transport, information society, and social sciences. The terms of the agreement will be reviewed at the end of 2002, when it may be renewable for a further five years.
