A new body responsible for defining research priorities in the mining sector is to be created following a meeting between representatives from government agencies and industry and scientists in Aachen on 18 October. The body will be known as the 'European minerals RTD council' or EniReC. Taking part in the new structure will be national agencies, industries, as well as the Society of Mining Professors. The first president will be Christian Fouillac from BRMG Extractives Group.
