Economic analysis of telecommunications competition cases
Tenders for academic consultancy services concerning economic analysis of telecommunications competition cases are invited by the Commission's Competition Directorate General. The aim is to obtain expert economic support to assist the Union in the telecommunications sector. Joint contributions with lawyers are possible. The Commission is therefore looking for people with expert knowledge of the telecommunications sector. Six major issues are identified: - market definition; - dominance/oligopolies - allocation of scarce resources (frequency licenses) - sector specific regulation versus general competition rules; - Internet issues; - access to networks. It is possible to submit a joint proposal by two or more experts for one or several of these issues. The expert support consists of four meetings in Brussels per year with preparation (between 10 and 20 days of work).
