The UK House of Lords scientific and technology committee published the written evidence it received in its enquiry into human genetics databases on November 8. The evidence is from some of the major players in the field and gives a full indication of the work taking place in the sector. It will play a key role in supporting the work of the committee in the lead up to its full report in spring 2001. In the intervening period, the committee will stage a series of hearings which will look into both the present position and possible future developments. Lord Oxborough, who chairs the sub-committee undertaking the UK inquiry into the area, claimed that the report would be a great aid in helping to formulate regulation in the field.
