New JRC Director General sought
The European Commission has republished its vacancy for a new Joint Research Centre (JRC) Director General. The appointed candidate's core task will be to develop further the provision of demand-driven scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies. The Director General will have to ensure that the JRC works closely with research institutes in the Member States and the institutions of the European Union, in particular towards the development of a Scientific Reference System for Europe as proposed in the Commission's communication on a European Research Area (ERA). The position requires a high level of commitment and leadership to lead a large and dynamic organisation such as the JRC.
