Sustainability assessment service launched
Following the conclusion of a two year pilot project, partially funded by the European Commission's Information Society programme, the 'Information society impact assessment for sustainability' (ISIAS) has officially been launched. The ISIAS service is aimed at local and regional development agencies wishing to develop focused and effective strategies for a sustainable information society, based on a broad consensus of those involved. It helps to develop a structured view of long-term futures and to evaluate the impact of possible concrete actions, whilst decreasing uncertainty through tested scenario-building techniques. The service consists of three main components: a common impact assessment framework, a participative local information society workgroup and specifically developed scenario building and modelling techniques, including a regional vision service for 12 to 24 months.
