Greek entrepreneurship receives financial boost from European Commission
The Community Support Framework (CSF) is to provide vital funds to assist the promotion of entrepreneurship in the Greek workforce and the upgrading of human capital in research, science and technology. Funds will also be used to support the development of the information society and the improve competitiveness, particularly with regard to SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises). The agreement, signed on 27 November by European Commissioner for regional policy Michel Barnier and Yannos Papantoniou, Greek Minister for the National Economy, sees the allocation of 4250 million euro from the EU's Structural Funds for the period of 2000-2006. The Structural Funds are used principally to fight long-term unemployment and facilitate the integration of young people into the workforce.
