More than 175 European and American companies and knowledge centres succeeded in finding an environmental technology partner at a EUREKA meeting in Amsterdam on 29 and 30 November. EUREKA is the research and development cooperation programme of the European Commission, and involves 29 countries. The event brought together companies and research institutes from the United States and 25 West and East European countries seeking partners for the joint development of innovative environmental technology projects. Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Annemarie Jorritsma opened the event and stressed the importance of international cooperation in environmental technology: 'Pioneering technologies are the key to solving environmental problems,' she said.
