Distinctions for high-level research work: The Archimedes prize
As part of its programme for research and technological development to improve the human research potential and the socio-economic knowledge base (part of the Fifth RTD Framework programme) the European Commission invites proposals for the Archimedes prize, distinctions for high level research work. Participants should be undergraduate students in European higher education institutions who have developed original scientific ideas or concepts in areas relevant to the advancement of European science. For this call, scientific and technological achievements must be relevant to the following themes: - concepts to aid disabled people; - desertification and drought; - mathematical modelling for social and economic sciences - new medicines from natural sources. The prize of around 50,000 euro per project is aimed to provide funding to enhance and develop the winners' future scientific careers.
