ESF requires a director of administration and finance
The European Science Foundation (ESF) requires a director for its administration and finance unit. The successful candidate will answer to the secretary general, and will be responsible for all financial activities, including their extension into accounting and human resources. The successful candidate will have half a dozen staff working under his/her authority, including the ESF's head of personnel. In addition the director of administration and finance will be responsible for consolidating and monitoring the budgets and shall act as management controller. The post requires a considerable degree of familiarity with IT tools and a particular interest in management control. He/she will have an analytical mind, be at ease in relationships with other members of staff, and will be able to draft documents in English and French. A firm understanding of French law is required and some knowledge of Community law would also be an advantage. Candidates should have a good general education, including studies in business administration and be qualified in advanced accounting. Candidates must have some experience of working in an establishment of a similar size to the ESF (55 staff members) and in personnel management. An attractive salary will be awarded according to skills and experience. The starting date for the position is 1 September 2001.
