The Commission of the European Communities invites proposals for feasibility studies followed by trials developing and carrying out a small number of pilot schemes for Trusted Third Party Services for Electronic Signature. The proposals should relate to a Trusted Third Party Service for Electronic Signatures in telematic services, related to one of the following exemplary areas or an alternative area suggested by the proposers: - Health Care; - Electronic Commerce; - Transport Services; - Teleworking. Consortia of organizations eligible to participate are invited to submit proposals in the above areas of application. The issues should relate to the public, unclassified domain, i.e. to private, business and government requirements for secure, open, international information exchange. Attention is drawn to the fact that this call addresses two phases: in phase I successful proposals will result in initial, 3-month (maximum) feasibility studies which will examine the requirements, specify, and propose strategies for implementation of field trials or "pilots"; in phase II, s small number of pilots will be implemented, based on the results of the studies of phase I; this implies that in phase II only a subset of the phase one participants will be involved. Funding for phase II will be on a cost-sharing basis, as detailed in the call documentation. Detailed information plus procedures for the submission of proposals may be obtained from: Commission of the European Communities DG XIII/B-6 Reference: "TTPS/ES Call" 200 rue de la Loi B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32-2-2963459; Fax +32-2-2966271; E-mail: isco@postman.dg13.cec.be.
