A new European Commission funded initiative, 'Fellows For Industry', will foster cooperation between academia and enterprise in the biomedical engineering and rehabilitation technology sectors. The initiative, which will involve enabling and facilitating access to companies, particularly SMEs for highly qualified scientific personnel, is aimed at increasing the innovation potential of European enterprises. Both companies and scientists will benefit from this sharing of knowledge and experience. Fellows For Industry will consist of a network of experts from 12 countries, including five EU candidate countries, and will be coordinated by the 'Austrian bureau for international research and technology cooperation'. The initiative will be of particular help to those interested in participating in the EU Marie-Curie fellowship programme. The service will offer information on the fellowship scheme and provide targeted assistance and coaching in the entire process of EU proposal preparation.
