The European Commission has announced a call for proposals for indirect RTD actions under the specific programme for research, technological development and demonstration on 'improving the human research potential and the socio-economic knowledge base', support for the development of science and technology policies in Europe. The indicative budget referred to in this call notice is 5.5 million euro. The call relates to both proposals received by a fixed deadline and under a continuous submission scheme. 1 June 2001 is the deadline for proposals submitted under the fixed deadline method. These proposals must address issues within one or more of the following areas of the work programme: - policy development for the research, technology development and innovation (RTDI) system; - policies to leverage investment in resources for RTDI; - science and governance; impact on other policies; - improved policy coordination in the European science system. The first evaluation deadline of the continuous submission scheme is 1 July 2001. Proposals received after this deadline will be evaluated at intervals that depend on the number of proposals received, but which will not exceed six months. Proposals submitted under this system can include one or more of the following: - studies in support of this programme and in preparation of future activities, including studies on strategic issues arising in the course of the programme; - information, communication and dissemination activities, including scientific publications and activities for the promotion and exploitation of results and the dissemination of knowledge.
