Joint initiatives in the field of flight data processing systems
The European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy and transport has published prior information of a call to tender for a study on institutional issues concerning joint initiatives the field of flight data processing systems. The tasks involved include an analysis of flight data processing (FDP) sub-systems as key components of the future harmonised European air traffic management (ATM) system focussing on the following issues: - identification of the optimum process to achieve interoperability standards in the field of FDP; - identification of different options and detailed examination of the institutional issues raised by each option for the cooperation of actors in the specification and, eventually, development and implementation of an FDP system providing full coverage of European traffic; - identification of different options and detailed examination of the institutional issues associated with each option for the provision of FDP services based on the operation of the above-mentioned system or other suitable alternatives appropriately identified; - lessons to be learned from previous initiatives, for the cooperative definition of ATM systems and provision of ATM services at European level. Provision of recommendations suitable for implementation in this sector.
