The European Commission has approved the continuation of a German risk capital scheme for small technology companies involved in research. Under the scheme, investors will receive a guarantee for part of their investment when it is injected into research projects in young technology projects. The scheme will make available 192.5 million euro between now and 2002. Recent studies have shown significant potential for new technology businesses in Germany which require significant funding for research activities during their early years.
