The European Commission's Institute for reference materials and measurements (IRMM) intends to draw up a list of laboratories/service providers interested in carrying out analyses of trace elements (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Se, Sn. V and Zn) for the certification of two honey-based reference materials. Interested laboratories/service providers must demonstrate experience in certification of reference materials. Furthermore, they must demonstrate experience in similar determinations of similar products. It must be clearly stated which methods have been used. Publication in support of claims indicated before are required, From a list of qualified participants for certification, the selection will be made so that each element will be analysed by six to twelve laboratories covering at least four different methods. The list of potential service providers will remain valid for three years. The validity period may be extended following a further call for expressions of interest.
