The Environment Directorate General is calling for tenders for a contract focussing on the integration of environmental requirements in the European standardisation process. The contract should contribute to the creation of a greener European standardisation process, i.e. the environmental requirements and interests are taken into account in the development of standards. The Commission is looking for an organisation to ensure that the European standardisation process takes into account environmental concerns. To carry out the task efficiently, the organisation selected will have to work at both a technical and decision making level in the European standardisation process, working in close cooperation with European standardisation organisations such as the European committee for standardisation (CEN), whilst creating solid relations with the national standardisation bodies and the environmental helpdesk as well as other stakeholders. The aim of the contract is to: - contribute to the enhancement of environmental aspects in the standardisation process at European and national level; - protect the interests of the environment in the work of the standardisation bodies; - promote the integration of the environmental aspects into standardisation; - provide DG-environment with support n relation to mandates and their follow-up; - contribute to the improvement of consumer choice by providing a wider array of environmentally sound products.
