Bulgaria opens calls
The national science fund of Bulgaria has requested invitations for two open calls which both close on 25 May. Young scientists 2001 is the first of the calls. It seeks entries in one of three areas: - biodiversity: diversity of forest flora - sea ecosystems - preservation of environment and measures The eleventh competitive session calls for thematic scientific priorities is also open and has the same deadline. The priorities are mathematical methods for information processing; computing methods and instruments for communication; applied aspects of new materials and technologies; ecology friendly materials and technologies; immune, genetics and functional research of the social important diseases; biodiversity in Bulgaria; genome functions; development of mountain and semi-mountain agriculture aimed at producing of ecology pure food; natural and forced risks; technical decisions materials and technologies for improvement of quality of life and; Bulgarian society in transition to European standards. The opening of national research and technology programmes comes in accordance with the joint declaration to decision 4/99 of the European Union. The national science fund is a self-governing agency of the Ministry of education and science which finances and supports scientific research.
